Volunteer Naturalists

Volunteer Naturalists are specially certified volunteers who have taken a series of workshops in which they have received advanced training in the topics upon which our education programs touch. The series of 6 workshops are held annually and are open to anyone who wishes to teach youth and families about our the natural history of the south Puget Sound through Tahoma Audubon Society and the Tacoma Nature Center. Besides learning what we teach, we also include in each workshop the opportunity to learn from local experts and professionals about each topic.

Upon completion of the series,  our volunteer naturalists are ready to teach our programs for the public, interpret nature as guides, and share educational activities at community-wide events such as Puyallup Fair, Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium's Earth Day celebration, and more.
