Adult Classes & Workshops 

Throughout the year, we offer various workshops and courses for teens and adults in partnership with the Tacoma Nature Center, University of Puget Sound's Slater Natural History Museum and the Falcon Research Group. Check back often to see which classes are coming up!

Nature Center Frog

BEGINNING BIRDING
Adults 18 and up, $60/Audubon member, $75/non-member
Do you want to identify the birds on your feeder? Are you still trying to sort out all those ducks on the water? Are you interested in learning skills to identify birds on your own? Then this is the class for you! The class is taught by Marcus Roening, local master birder and past president of the Washington Ornithological Society and Tahoma Audubon. Marcus loves to share his joy of birders with beginning bird watchers. Designed for beginners, this class meets at the Tacoma Nature Center and includes two local field trips on Saturdays, November 8 & 15, 9:00am to noon. Transportation not included.

Nature Center Frog

INTERMEDIATE BIRDING
Adults 18 and up, $75/Audubon member, $90 non-member
This class will offer the "post-beginner" birder the chance to develop identification skills and birding methods while honing your birder's intuition. This class includes two field trips on October 19 & 26. Instructed by Brandon Hawn. To register, call (253) 591-6439. Class meets at Tacoma Nature Center. Transportation not included - carpooling encouraged.

Nature Center FrogADVANCED BIRDING WITH KEN BROWN
Adults 18 and up, $130/Audubon member, $150 non-member
Join us to learn the status of birds wintering in Washington with a special emphasis on ducks, Loons, Grebes, hawks, shorebirds, gulls and winter specialties. We will also talk about molt and giss. This class is for those who have a good background in bird identification. In addition to the scheduled class days, there are four field trips that are fast paced and include travel and overnight stay. Two-day trip to the coast on October 11-12; one local day trip in mid-November (15 or 22); Skagit on December 6; and a three-day trip to Central Washington in January 17-19, 2015. Class meets at the Tacoma Nature Center. Transportation/lodging not included - carpooling encouraged.   Call (253) 591-6439 to register.
