Krystal Kyer

Executive Director 

Krystal was promoted to E.D. in April of 2011 to lead the organization in becoming a sustainable powerhouse of local environmental education, citizen science, and conservation in Pierce County.


She joined Audubon in 2006 as the Conservation Coordinator, working with the Conservation Committee on habitat, shorelines and land use issues with the aim of protecting habitat for birds and wildlife across Pierce County.   As a community organizer and lobbyist, her work focused on citizen science, shellfish aquaculture, biodiversity, open space, urban forestry and conservation.  

 

A Puget Sound native, Krystal spent four years in the Navy before earning her B.A. and Master of Environmental Studies degrees from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, where she was the campus chair for the Washington Public Interest Research Group. She served on the Metro Parks Tacoma Board of Park Commissioners from January 2010 to November 2011. 


When not at work, she enjoys organic gardening and native plants, hiking, tennis and camping with her family.

Sue Wattier

OSPREY Camp Director

Sue joined the Tahoma Audubon staff in March 2011.  She has 25 years experience in the environmental education field working for Highline School District, Girl Scouts of Western Washington, and the Boy Scouts of America.  Educated at Western Washington University, she has a passion for program development and working with volunteers.  

When not at work Sue enjoys camping, hiking, and cross country skiing.








Paulette Peterson

Membership Associate 

Paulette joined Tahoma Audubon Society in November 2011.  By working in various fields such as youth programs, legislature, and public relations, her experience as a volunteer coordinator and outreach specialist for over 8 years has heightened her ability to engage individuals.

Paulette was educated at the Evergreen State College, Tacoma Campus studying fields focusing Urban Development, Communications, and Biology.  In her professional career, Paulette’s focus has been to gather communities together and to partner with organizations as well as educational institutions geared towards positive enhancement.

Paulette hopes to bring forth a new generation of prospective members throughout Pierce County.  She plans to for an innovative membership committee that can share the Tahoma Audubon mission with our communities.

When she finds free time, Paulette enjoys reading, cooking, and appreciating time with her four children and loving husband.
